ChainIDE topic discussion #2 EIP
Ethereum is an open-source code project that is neither controlled by anyone nor owned by anyone. It was created by a group of people. With the increase in the usage rate of Ethereum, the lack of a set of universal rules makes its development difficult. In this case, the proposal of EIP is particularly important. EIP is a proposal made by the Ethereum developer community to improve Ethereum. The developers of the Ethereum community hope to make Ethereum more and more perfect through EIP.
To deploy EIP on the mainnet, the community and the core client (Ethereum node) must first be agreed upon. Once the Ethereum core client developers and the community have accepted an EIP, this EIP will be included in the next network upgrade.
EIP process(old): Draft→Last Call→Accepted→Final.
EIP process(new): CFI, Consider for Inclusion → Devnet stage (approved by CFI → CI devnet waiting room → deployment on CI devnet) → mainnet stage (test green light → public testnet → mainnet)
EIP1559 changes the fee market of Eth1. The gas fee is divided into two parts: base fee (basic fee) and tip. The basic fee will be destroyed, and the tip will be sent to the miner. The basic cost will be dynamically determined by the agreement based on demand. This can avoid some cost peaks and improve the user's time-consuming experience in gas payment.
The gas cost for EIP-2929 status access opcodes has increased. The gas fee for storing and accessing opcodes has been too low for a long time, and some malicious transactions that can be executed in only 20-80 seconds can now be easily created. This EIP increases the cost of state access by approximately 3 times.
