It can be more expensive because blockchain applications require additional components that traditional applications may not need. A conventional application generally relies on frontend development, backend systems, databases, APIs, and cloud infrastructure. A blockchain application may require these components along with smart contracts, wallet connectivity, blockchain data, transaction processing, and Web3 authentication.

Security can also have a major effect on the budget. If your application handles tokens, payments, or other digital assets, vulnerabilities in the underlying contracts can create serious risks. Therefore, testing, code review, vulnerability assessment, and security auditing may become important parts of the project.

A decentralized application development cost could fall within the $20,000–$50,000 range, while a complex platform may cost $100,000–$250,000+.

The actual estimate depends on the blockchain, number of contracts, application complexity, integrations, user experience, security requirements, and development model.

Before requesting quotations, prepare a clear product specification covering the main user journeys and required features. This helps development teams understand the technical scope and provide a more accurate estimate.
