I’m looking to buy a gold chain, what do you think is this best place to buy one when I’m trying to spend about $100-200?
I’m going to use 14K gold as a reference. As of this writing (July 4th, 2019), the price of one gram of 14k gold is $26.63. This price will fluctuate, of course. The manufacturer might be able to produce a gold chain for about $28/gram. A wholesaler might buy it for around that price and sell it to a jeweler for about $32-$36/gram and the jeweler, in turn, will try to sell it for a lot more, perhaps $50+/gram. You might be able to haggle the jeweler for a better price, but my experience is that they won’t go much lower than $50/gram. But that really depends on the store.
So, $100-$200 for a chain isn’t going to get you much at all. The chain will probably be thin and maybe a simple type of link (like maybe a cable link chain or something like that), perhaps it will be hollow or it may not even be 14K, but rather 10K, which is cheaper than 14K.
For that budget, I think eBay isn’t that bad place to buy chains and you can find a good selection there. They also have a refund policy, so if you don’t like it, you can always return it. Lots of local jewelers don’t have one and do exchanges only, if at all. Amazon is pretty good, too, but I find the prices on there to be more expensive, even if it’s the same item by the same vendor.
Hello people! I want to find an online store to make permanent custom jewelry. This one for me will be full of holidays and I don't have time to think about gifts. I decided that I would give jewelry! I really want to know the opinion of people who bought such products on the Internet. Have there been moments when on the eve of the holiday you were sent a defective product? And how fast is the delivery on such sites?
